Monday Dare: Wait? What?

Every week, I challenge myself to a Monday Dare. You can click on the link if you’d like to see the full list of Monday Dares or learn more about its origin.

This week: Forgive

I bumped into a friend I haven’t seen in ages over the weekend. Usually, I dig that shit. This time, not so much.

Five minutes into the conversation:

Me: I need to run, but we should have lunch and catch up soon.

James: Aren’t you married?

Me: Yes. Um……so we can’t have lunch?

James: I just remember how you used to be back in the day. You were, you know….

Me: What?

James: You used to, you know. You really made your way around.

Me: Wait. Are you calling me a whore?

James: That’s not the word I was going to use, but…

Me: We haven’t seen each other since 1998.

James: People don’t really change.

Well, I guess that frees up *that* lunch.

I know I give myself too much credit sometimes, but I’m pretty sure that I’m not the same person I was in 1998. I mean, I’ve gotten an email account AND wrinkles since then.

Some people…….

Do you ever feel like people can’t or won’t see how far you’ve come? How do you deal?

P.S. This is probably not going to do anything for my whore image, but I posted a picture on the Flourish in Progress Facebook page of my poker “lessons” in Vegas. Taken at 5:45 a.m. Wearing sequins. “Like” the page to see other random posts in the future.
